Okay people, its 8:30 a.m., which is why neither of us could open our eyes. We also forgot that the books we were about to discuss are not happy books. No smiling allowed!!! I really enjoy the class: "Histories of Vietnam", with the plural on 'histories' because history is in the eye of the beholder, and is written according to various biases. Some things in Vietnamese history books are simply not true, due to political impetuses, such as the Temple of Literature being closer to 600 years old, rather than the claimed 1000 years old. The things Vietnamese do to impress the Chinese... :)
